Gallery 10 will be presenting the creative jewelry and photography of Marie Martz-Mort during the month of July.

Martz-Mort has had a lifelong interest in creating art, and she has tried all types of two-and-three dimensional mediums. Searching for just the right art form in classes at Lincoln High School, Sierra College and California State University, Sacramento, she finally enrolled in a silver and enameling class in the late 1970s, taught by Ellen van Fleet.

She knew then that she had found the medium in which to focus her creative energy. Martz-Mort is constantly inspired by the variety of gemstones available and finds working as a jeweler personally rewarding and stimulating.

"I enjoy creating a work of art that is unique and enduring, and helping my clients to fulfill a desire for a special piece of jewelry that they can enjoy for many years to come," said Martz-Mort.

In the last few years, she has expanded her artistic talents into the field of photography. She explores interesting shapes in her compositions which emphasize her views on what is beautiful or compelling. The gallery will be exhibiting several of her photos, focusing on scenes and the flora and fauna of Amador County. Included will be her presentations of cats, which always bring joy to cat lovers who experience them.

A reception in her honor will be held on Saturday, July 3 at Gallery 10, 15 Eureka St., Sutter Creek, from 2 to 4 p.m. The gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday through Monday.
